Program Themes

Each year, Move and Improve looks for ways to enhance the program by introducing a new “theme" to the program.  A theme is selected for the year to help boost the excitement around Move and  Improve by providing a "unique" way to view one's physical activity progress during the program.  Individuals or sites may decide to implement the "theme" if they so choose.  This is not mandatory, it is simply an option. Remember, physical activity can take many forms. Enjoy your physical activity endeavors and track your progress as you follow the path toward "Wellness".

How to implement the theme 

Each week of Move and Improve is represented on the poster to help you establish short-term and long-term goals during your Move and Improve journey. Remember, this is an optional tool.

  • Download and print the desired theme poster by visiting the downloads section
  • Follow the instructions provided with each theme
  • Identify an icon that will represent your movement on the poster for each week, be creative with your selection or download the Move-It Man icon to use on your poster.
  • Download the paper activity log to keep track of how many minutes of physical activity you engage in each day of the week, then for each week completed, follow the directions below:

Week 1

  1. Keep track of how many minutes of physical activity that you engage in each day of the week (you may want to download and print the activity log on paper to keep track of your daily minutes)
  2. At the end of the week, review how many days you were able to meet your Move and Improve goal
  3. If you were able to achieve your goal for Week One, simply cut out "week 1" of the Move and Improve figures and tack or tape the figures on top of the week one square on the poster
  4. Continue to go through steps 1-3 for each consecutive week
